Project description

Yourfirm is a job portal that focuses on Germany’s medium-sized companies (Mittelstand). It has been a trusted platform for years, helping employers find qualified personnel and supporting job seekers in securing their next career opportunity.

We developed the Yourfirm web application from the ground up, building a reliable, scalable platform that could rapidly evolve from prototype to production. Over time, we added powerful features such as multi portal support, which enabled Yourfirm to quickly launch specialized sites for new regions and professions.

Search is at the heart of any good job portal, and we delivered a powerful full-text search engine using Solr that not only finds the exact jobs users search for but also recommends similar, relevant offers. To support a modern user experience, we built a Single Page Application (SPA) that shows job listings, related jobs, and a seamless application process — all on the same page. This made it easier for users to apply and directly improved conversion rates.

We also integrated external job imports and exports with partners like the Federal Employment Agency, LinkedIn, and Xing, which increased job visibility and drove traffic to Yourfirm. On the backend, we added bidirectional Salesforce connectivity, allowing the Yourfirm sales and support teams to efficiently manage customer packages and job advertisements.

Our relationship with Yourfirm has lasted for over a decade and is still ongoing. We provide technical support, develop new features, and remain a trusted IT sparring partner for advancing the platform.

Challenges

One of the most exciting parts of working on Yourfirm has been growing with the project from day one. We designed the system from the ground up using Django and Python, and as Yourfirm evolved, we introduced a new React frontend to deliver a faster, more modern experience.

One challenge we enjoyed solving was scaling search and integrations to boost reach and traffic. By connecting Yourfirm to platforms like Xing and LinkedIn, we helped them display their jobs on external sites and drive those users directly back to Yourfirm. The new React SPA made it possible for job seekers to apply directly on the partner platforms while still using the seamless Yourfirm application flow.

Another major milestone was the development of multi portal management, which let Yourfirm quickly create new, specialized job portals focused on specific regions or industries. This feature became so successful that it spun off a completely new business entity.

Looking back, it's been incredibly rewarding to be part of Yourfirm’s growth story and to continue shaping the platform alongside their team.
